The Pentax *ist DS digital SLR with the SMC PENTAX-DA 18-55mm zoom lens is a portable and affordable camera kit. It has a comfortable, well-balanced operations with easy to use features. Packed into its 30-ounce (with 18mm-to-55mm lens, battery, and media), polycarbonate-clad stainless-steel frame is an array of automated and user-selectable exposure and scene controls, a brilliant optical viewfinder and an LCD that are easy on the eyes, and enthusiast-pleasing options such as an eight-frame, 2.5fps drive mode. The 18-55mm lens is a compact, lightweight standard zoom that features an image circle to match the camera's large 23.5mm x 15.7mm image sensor. Excellent performance and good image quality make the *ist DS an attractive option for those who already own a few good Pentax lenses, since the camera is fully compatible with all K-mount lenses (K-, KA-, KAF-, and KAF2-) and even screw mount lenses dating back several decades. Pentax provides lots of customization options on the *ist DS. There are 18 custom functions, ranging from whether automatic noise reduction is applied to the disabling of the shutter-release button while the flash is recharging or setting the magnification to use when reviewing images on the 2 inch LCD.

This camera has been lightly used but is in perfect working condition. It has experienced close to 2800 shutters. The lens also is in perfect condition with no haze, fog or fungus in the glass. All the functionalities of the camera have been tested to be working great. The kit comes with a 512MB SD card, the shoulder strap, a front lens cap and a petal lens hood.
